Terry's Thoughts April 2019
April has arrived and the words “HE IS ALIVE AND HAS RESISEN FROM THE GRAVE” should be on the lips of us all! Many of our churches are celebrating Resurrection Sunday in a variety of ways and I would encourage each of you to attend your church as well as some of the other special services being held throughout our Association Area. Resurrection Sunday (Easter) is, in fact, the most important holiday we celebrate and should be understood as such. For without the Resurrection there would be no hope for anyone, however, because He paid the price for our sins we have the privilege of joining Him in Heaven for all eternity. Can there be more of a joyous promise than that?! The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!! Greta and I truly pray your holiday celebrations will be full of gratitude for all He has done on our behalf.
WOW, WOW, and WOW are the only words that come to mind when I think of our recent On Mission Connection (OMC). It was another great success and each of our missionaries were blown away by your response to them. We were able to bless them in a significant way with honorariums and were able to establish new partnership opportunities. I was and am very proud of you West Chowan. You continue to confirm His call on my life by your commitment to our efforts to expose the gospel around the world. Thanks again and know I love you!!
On behalf of our association leadership please allow me to say a great big THANK YOU for your amazing response as we recognized JoAnn Mizelle for her 32 years of faithful service to the West Chowan Baptist Association. The reception, held on March 24, was very well attended and in the words of JoAnn she was “BLOWN AWAY” by your expressions of sincere love toward her. I too was overwhelmed by your generosity, cards, and words of appreciation for all she has done to serve our great association.
Finally, the following are a few dates to remember in April:
April 2 marks the date for the Annual WCBA WMU meeting being held at St. John Baptist Church beginning at 7:00 P.M.
April 7 marks the 34th Annual Spring meeting of our association. It begins at 6:00 P.M. with the April Ex. Council meeting and concludes with our Spring meeting featuring our own Moderator, Derik Davis, sharing from The Word. Of course all are encouraged and welcomed to come.
April 8 marks the date for the Region 1 listening session, sponsored by the BSCNC, concerning the Impacting Lostness Strategy here at the MRC beginning at 7:00 P.M. More details can be found on our website.
April 9 marks the date for the NC BAM (Baptist Aging Ministry) Aging Well Conference. This conference begins at 10:00 A.M. and concludes at 2:00 P.M. There is a $10.00 registration due at the door and covers lunch. Please visit our website http:// www.westchowan.org/ for more information and registration.
